Canadian Scholars: Vietnam Achieves Many Accomplishments after 48 Years of Unification

Photo: VNA About 45 Canadian scholars and experts gathered at an online conference in Toronto on April 24 to discuss the development of the Vietnamese nation and people after 48 years of national reunification. Philip Fernandez from the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Society (CVFS) said that the historical milestone of the victory on April 30, 1975 was a start of Vietnam’s success in various fields, especially economy, diplomacy and human development towards the UN targets. Vietnam defends world aerobic championship 2023 The Vietnamese team of five won the World Aerobic Cup 2023 championship in Tokyo, Japan, on April 23. The Vietnamese gymnasts scored 19,844 points to win the tournament. France and host Japan were the runners-up with 19,167 and 18,544 points, respectively. Folk cake festival to kick off in southern Vietnam late this month

The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on Friday morning held a press briefing to introduce activities in the framework of the fest this year. In particular, the 10th edition of the festival, themed ‘Preserving and promoting the values of southern folk cakes,’ will feature nearly 300 booths introducing folk cakes from 22 localities in Vietnam. The festival will see no booth of foreign artisans. It is expected to attract one million visitors, up some 200,000 over the ninth edition held last year. The festival will feature more night-time activities, including folk cake-making games, an  ao dai (Vietnamese traditional costume) performance, and art performance programs, Nguyen Minh Tuan, director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said at the press conference. Vibrant festival honors ancient Thang Long Citadel protector

The festival was held on April 22 in Hanoi, attracting a large number of visitors. Quan Thanh Temple, formerly known as Tran Vu Temple, was built during the reign of King Ly Thai To (1010-1028). The temple worships Huyen Thien Tran Vu, one of the four sacred deities of Taoism. The temple is one of the “Thang Long Tu Tran” or the four guardian temples of Thang Long, built at the four cardinal points to protect the ancient Thang Long Citadel from evil spirits. The Quan Thanh Temple Festival is held twice a year, on the third day of the third Lunar month; and on the ninth day of the ninth Lunar month in gratitude to Huyen Thien Tran Vu.
