Ninety-nine children from the capital city of Hanoi enthusiastically took part in the drawing contest titled “Hanoi in Your Eyes”. The contest was a remarkable feature of the Hanoi Autumn Festival, held on September 30. The painting contest gives Hanoi children a chance to express their love for the capital. “Vietnamese Designers Win with Scrap Fabric Costume”

The fourth iteration of Vietnam Design Week 2023 concluded on September 29th at the Temple of Literature. During the event, the costume design Ratla Xuan by Nguyen Khai Tam won the first prize in the Designed by Vietnam competition. Ratla Xuan, designed by Nguyen Khai Tam, wins the Designed by Vietnam contest. Nguyen Khai Tam crafted the winning costume by utilizing available materials and repurposing discarded fabrics. The costume showcases hand-stitched and woven patterns, celebrating the creativity of craftsmanship while promoting sustainability. Vietnam Women’s Rowing Team Qualifies for Asian Games Finals

On Wednesday, the 19th Asian Games commenced with the rowing competition. The Vietnamese team made an impressive start, securing a spot in the finals for four out of the six events they participated in. Nguyen Thi Giang and Pham Thi Thao came in second place in the women’s heavyweight two-oar sculls event, narrowly missing first place to their Iranian competitors. Hanoi is renowned for its culinary delights, with four dishes making it onto the prestigious list of 121 Typical Delicacies of Vietnam. These include the iconic pho (noodle soup), bun oc (vermicelli soup with snail), com Vong (dishes made from young stick rice flakes), and bun thang (vermicelli noodle with assorted toppings). On September 29, the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association (VCCA) held a ceremony in Hanoi to recognize and award certificates to 121 exemplary culinary dishes selected for Phase 1 (2022) of the project “Building and Developing Vietnamese Culinary Culture into a National Brand”. Hanoi Photographer Receives Recognition at International Photography Awards 2023

Hanoi-based photographer Tran Viet Van, from Lao Dong (Labor) newspaper, received an honorable mention at the 20th International Photography Awards (IPA) 2023 in the US. Van’s entry, titled “The Rhythm of Time,” consists of nine color photos and was recognized in the Press Photo category. The photos showcase the daily life and activities of Cuban people in Old Havana and Trinidad during his visit to the Latin American country in November 2022. Some of the images from this series have previously won an Honorable Mention in the Press Photo category at the World Master of Photography Awards in Austria and a Third Prize at the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year in the UK, the world’s leading award for food photography.
