Tim Pile, a lifestyle and travel journalist of SCMP, wrote an article stating that Hoi An is a picturesque city located on the central coast of Vietnam. With its blend of wooden Chinese shophouses, French colonial buildings, ornate temples, and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, the Old Town was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. Hanoi’s Little Ambassadors: Boosting Tourism in the Capital City

A 20-year-old student, Nghiem Ngoc Anh, eagerly escorted a group of foreigners to visit Sword Lake in Hanoi. She proudly showed them Turtle Tower, an intriguing structure located in the middle of the lake, and narrated the story behind its name. As a second-year student at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Nghiem Ngoc Anh believes that she represents not only the Hanoi Free Private Tour Guides (HNFTGs) but also serves as a cultural and tourism ambassador for Hanoi. In 2015, a group of Hanoi students established HNFTGs with the aim of improving their English communication skills, deepening their historical knowledge, and acting as goodwill ambassadors for Vietnamese culture and history to tourists from all corners of the world. Photo exhibition celebrates Vietnamese Women’s Day

The photo contest launched on August 29 is open to female photographers only. The judges select a total of 11 photos which are worthy of prizes from 2,819 entries by 274 photographers from across the country. A silver medal goes to Bach Thi To Anh of Ho Chi Minh City with a photo depicting women harvesting water lilies. Apart from the 11 winning photos, the organisers choose an additional 56 pieces for the exhibition held at the Vietnam Women’s Museum. Female photographer Pham Thi Bich Thuy of Bac Ninh province is awarded a silver medal for submitting a photo about happiness of both mothers and children. The event creates a playground specifically for professional and non-professional female photographers nationwide, helping them to exchange, gain experience, and introduce their works to the wider public. Art photos feature beauty of contemporary life across Vietnam

This year’s event features 250 outstanding works of 187 professional and amateur photographers, chosen from the National Art Photography Contest 2022. Over three months, the contest received nearly 16,400 entries by over 1,500 photographers, which are divided into Realistic Photo and Conceptual Photo categories. The best 29 works have been awarded, including one gold medal, four silver, eight bronze and 16 consolation prizes. In the Realistic Photo Category, a group photo titled ‘Thu Thiem Bridge 1- A New Highlight’ by Le Quang Thien from Da Nang won the gold medal. Wives of foreign diplomats gather to celebrate Women’s Day

During the course of the 90-minute tour visitors have the opportunity to watch a documentary which introduces Vietnamese lacquer paintings, enjoy an exhibition on lacquer paintings, and experience printing on paintings. Ethnic girls preserve brocade weaving in the highlands

Traditional costumes are one of the cultural heritages, bearing distinctive characteristics of the Red Dao ethnic group in Lam Binh that need to be preserved and promoted. Through the skillful hands of ethnic artisans, each brocade looks like a work of art. All brocaded products are made from natural materials by hand. Like the Tinh – a music instrument of the Tay, the brocade accompanies the ethnic group throughout their life. Weaving a product requires many stages, and it sometimes takes several months to complete a product. The main raw material for weaving is cotton. Cotton after being harvested is dried. Yarn spinning must be done by hand so that the thread is even, beautiful and smooth. After the spinning process, people cook porridge with sticky rice and put the fibers into the thick porridge to make them soft. VBA bids farewell to two long-time coaches

  VBA, the Thang Long Warriors and Danang Dragons parted ways with long-time coaches Predrag Lukic and Phan Thanh Canh, respectively. The Thang Long Warriors officially announced coach Predrag Lukic’s departure in early September after the end of the 2022 VBA season. The Serbian coach spent five consecutive seasons, from 2018 to 2022, with the Thanh Long Warriors, during which time he led the Hanoi-based team to a second-place finish in the 2020 VBA season.
