Vietnamese Movie Wins TAICCA Prize

The competition is part of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival that is taking place in the Republic of Korea (RoK) from June 29 to July 7. The film project directed by Oscar Duong and produced by Hang Trinh was the only Vietnamese representative to clinch the prize in the “It Project” category. This category is for film projects that are in the content development stage. “Sesame Has Its Soul” tells the story of Vietnamese women who immigrate to the RoK and their hidden pain when the beauty standards in the country are a great burden for Vietnamese – Korean women in particular, as well as globally in general. At the event, film director Oscar Duong shared that he hopes the project will soon be completed and screened in both Vietnam and foreign countries in the near future. Photographer rises to fame for scores of winning artworks globally

Between September 2021 and March 2023, Vu Hai has participated in 368 photo contests in more than 70 countries across the globe. Among 6,354 works selected for exhibition, he has won a total of 1,128 awards, including 290 gold medals, 90 silver medals, 150 bronze medals, and 598 other noble distinctions. Pictured is an artwork taken by Vu Hai who claimed two major international prizes in 2022. Vu Hai, 66, resides in Vinh Phuc province and is a member of the VAPA and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP). With over 40 years in his career, he has traveled all over the country exploring the daily lives and traditional customs of the 54 ethnic groups residing in Vietnam. He held two photo exhibitions in 2017 and 2018 featuring many pieces of work on landscapes and people nationwide. Photographed is a work on Lien Son bridge in his hometown of Vinh Phuc province. Vietnam impresses visitors at cultural festival in Egypt

The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt shows many documents, books and photos on culture, history, land and people of Vietnam, especially its outstanding achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal). Besides books on tourism introducing attractive destinations and unique features of regions, there also are magazines, photos, maps and documents and documentary screenings on Vietnam and the country’s specialities of fried spring rolls and coffee. The event is party of a series of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt (1963-2023). The Sakia Exhibition for Cultural Services is held annually and allows countries to exchange cultural activities and boost solidarity and mutual understanding. In Vietnam, child protection hotline a true lifesaver

Calls of all types Operators at the child protection hotline recently took a call from the aunt who was worried that her eight-year-old nephew wouldn’t be able to attend school because he had no birth certificate. According to the aunt, the child’s mother did not take a DNA test upon her son’s birth and therefore the boy wasn’t issued a birth certificate. “We are in the process of working with authorities to help the mother register for a birth certificate for her son,” an operator from the hotline said. “If the mother refuses, authorities will fine her because the child must be given a birth certificate and he has every right to go to school.” All day, every day, phones ring off the hooks in the 50-square-meter office where the hotline is housed.
