Dutch Mans Unconditional Love for Underprivileged Kids at Quang Tri Charity Center

Hans’ story with Quang Tri Hans Victor Selder, a man with a kind look and a loving heart, is called “Uncle Noys” by many generations of children at the “Mai Am Tinh Hong” center. In 1998, Hans had a chance to meet poor children in Quang Tri when he was Head of the External Relations Department of the Dutch Red Cross Society. After many visits to Vietnam and Quang Tri, he sympathized deeply and greatly supported the center since its early days as a home for disadvantaged children throughout the province. In 2004, when the source of support terminated, Hans returned to the Netherlands, but he kept in his mind many concerns about the children he met in Quang Tri. This prompted him to search everywhere, mobilizing friends and family members to establish an organization called KoD-Foundation (Kind onder Dak). This breed of Silkie chicken has black skin, flesh, and bones. The dish is prepared with marinated black chicken that’s usually marinated in galangal, honey, lemon or kaffir lime leaves, sesame seeds, chili powder, fish sauce, lemongrass, shallots, salt, and pepper. Launch of Painting Contest for Vietnamese and Foreign Children

The contest has been jointly arranged by Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports and the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations with the aim of educating children’s love for peace, promoting the beauty of Hanoi, and arousing children’s passion for painting. The contest is open to both Vietnamese and foreign teenagers and children from six to 15 years old who are living and studying in Hanoi. Contestants can draw pictures showcasing local culture, life, or nature; as well as the fight against environmental pollution, poverty, and epidemics. Paintings can be drawn with optional colours such as watercolours, wax, powder colours, oil paintings, markers, and crayons. The organisers will receive profiles of entrants between September 15 and 20. A painting contest will be held at the pedestrian street around Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) lake on October 10, with contestants drawing for 90 minutes.
