Cultural events to celebrate Uncle Ho’s birthday in Hanoi

The activities are aimed at celebrating President Ho Chi Minh’s 133rd birthday (May 19, 1890) and commemorating 112 years since he left the country to seek ways to liberate the nation (June 5, 1911), according to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. Vietnam conceded an early goal but came back with an equalizer in Thursday’s game. Achitpol Keereerom took advantage of Vietnamese defender Luong Duy Cuong’s slip and easily made it past keeper Doan Huy Hoang to score in the first three minutes of the match. Thailand slowed their pace following the opening goal while Vietnam continued their offensive strike.  However, Vietnam struggled to find opportunities to net the ball. Thailand led 1-0 at half-time. Overseas Vietnamese Family in UK Keeps Precious Memories of Uncle Ho

Photo: VNA Thanh Phan, a Vietnamese expatriate living in the UK, has shared his memories of President Ho Chi Minh who dedicated his whole life to the fight for the Vietnamese nation and people, on the occasion of the late leader’s 133rd birth anniversary (May 19, 1890), VNA reported. The poet, now in his 80’s, said that May 19 is a special day for his family because it is associated with the memory of his dear father who followed President Ho Chi Minh from the early days of the resistance war against French colonists. Poet Thanh Phan shared that, as a coincidence, his father died on May 20, exactly one day after Uncle Ho’s birthday, so May is always a big commemorative day for the family.
