Central Highlands Cultural Festival: An Exciting Celebration

The Ro Mam’s largest festival is the barn-opening ceremony held at the end of the year when all harvested rice is brought to the barn in the field. A new rice ceremony of the K’Ho S’re ethnic people in Lam Dong province draws plenty of attention from both locals and tourists. Gong culture in the Central Highlands region is recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity. A ceremony aimed at worshiping the first rain of the season is performed by the Mnong ethnic people who reside in Dak Nong province. Coffee, rice, and wine are among the main items offered to the ancestors. The unique water ceremony of the Jrai ethnic people in Gia Lai province is re-enacted. Relations between Vietnam and Cambodia have grown positively over time with regular contact and meetings, which have helped to establish political trust and promote cooperation in various sectors. The two countries have maintained existing cooperation mechanisms, including the joint committee on economic, cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation, and the cooperation and development conference between border localities of the two countries. Economic and trade cooperation is considered a highlight in bilateral cooperation, with two-way trade reaching US$6.5 billion last year. Welcoming Chinese Party and State Leader to Hanoi

Bank worker creates Ho Chi Minh City’s largest hydroponic farm

Tuan was impressed by his experience working on land appraisal for the bank, which made him realize the challenges that farmers often face due to unfavorable weather conditions. In addition, with the shrinking land area for farming in Ho Chi Minh City every year, there is a clear need for an agricultural model that can yield high-quality products and high yields. These situations motivated Tuan to research farming and establish his own hydroponic vegetable farm, which can produce up to five times more than traditional growing methods. “After leaving my stable job and income to pursue farming, I faced great pressure from my family, but my passion drove me to ignore their concerns,” Tuan shared. Under the theme of “Fall in love with the future through circular design”, the Challenge aims to explore how the principles of a circular economy can be a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, and regenerative thinking within architecture, design, and fashion practice through its multi-disciplinary program. The Challenge also recognizes young creative talents by facilitating an exchange of dialogue around circular design. Archaeological artifacts unearthed at Thang Long Imperial Citadel displayed in France

The event is part of cooperation between the Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre and the city of Provins to mark 10 years and 20 years since the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the medieval city of Provins were recognised as World Heritage Sites by the United United Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), respectively. Coming to the exhibition due to last until the end of December 2023, visitors will have a chance to learn about the citadel through panels presented in English, Vietnamese and French, as well as leaflets, books and souvenirs. In particular, a video clip on the exceptional values of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel will help them have a general overview of the ancient city of Hanoi.
