Philippines’ First Lady explores traditional flower market in Hanoi



The market offers a wide selection of popular flowers for the Tet holiday, the biggest celebration in Vietnam. Some of the flowers available include peach flowers, kumquats, dahlias, violets, gladioluses, and narcissuses.

Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his spouse are on a State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.


Peach blossoms are believed to bring good luck, happiness, and prosperity in the new year.


First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos is delighted to learn about Vietnamese peach blossoms and receives a small branch of peach blossom from the spouse of the Vietnamese President.


The two First Ladies take a stroll along Hang Ma street, which offers a variety of Tet items for home decorations.


The street is beautifully decorated with festive items, especially during the Tet holiday.


Both First Ladies are introduced to the history of Hang Trong folk paintings, a traditional genre of Vietnamese woodcut paintings originating from Hanoi.


They then enjoy sipping tea while listening to stories about traditional Vietnamese houses.

Vietnamese Individual Appointed as Judge for International Tchaikovsky Competition

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Quang Dong, 57, is working alongside 11 other experts worldwide to judge the piano category of the international Tchaikovsky competition this year. With plenty of experience in training students to win prizes at international contests and serving as a judge in many global piano competitions, he received an invitation from the organizers of the competition. Graduating from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in 1988, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Quang Dong returned to Vietnam and was subsequently appointed as deputy director of Hue Conservatory. He then became the director of the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, he is also serving as the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam.
