During the talks, the two sides agree to promote strong, stable, long-term and more effective development of Vietnam-China relations at a new level.
President Xi Jinping also holds talks with President Vo Van Thuong, during which they welcome the success of the December 12 talks between the two Party leaders, with important common perceptions identifying the new position of Vietnam – China positions and six pillars of cooperation.
Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirms that China values its friendly neighborly relationship with Vietnam, and Vietnam holds a special position in China’s neighborhood diplomacy policy.
Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping says he will direct the government of China to work closely with the government of Vietnam to concretize those common perceptions to bring more practical benefits for the peoples of the two countries.
Meeting with Naitonal Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping suggests increasing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. He says he is looking forward to receiving the Vietnamese legislator in Beijing in 2024.

At the end of the visit, the two sides issue a Joint Statement, agreeing to promote Vietnam-China relations into a new phase with higher political trust, more substantive defense and security cooperation, and more practical cooperation in other fields. Notably, they agree to better control and resolve disagreements, and join hands to spur the development of global socialism, for the sake of peace and progress of humanity.
