This year the festival is taking place from February 6 to February 8, with the event featuring numerous traditional rituals, cultural and sporting activities, and folk games.

An incense purifying ceremony is held at the temple dedicated to Kinh Duong Vuong. Elsewhere, a palanquin procession and other activities get underway at the festival.

The Kinh Duong Vuong traditional festival has been maintained through numerous generations in which to show people’s deep gratitude to their ancestors, as well as demonstrating their hope for peace and prosperity.

The Kinh Duong Vuong temple and tomb complex was constructed on the southern bank of the Duong river. The sight boasts significant historical and cultural values, with the complex being recognised as a national historical and cultural relic site back in 1993.

Overseas Vietnamese Commemorate Lunar New Year Festival in Kuala Lumpur

The opening event on January 27 was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia, Dinh Ngoc Linh and his wife, Mohamed Amin – Senior Director in charge of events and domestic tourism in Malaysia, Mohamad Shahrir – Senior Deputy Director of the ASEAN region under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, and several representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysian businesses, and overseas Vietnamese.
