Ho Chi Minh City to hold fireworks displays at 6 venues to welcome Lunar New Year

The municipal People’s Council on Sunday announced that among the six sites, two new venues for fireworks shows are a memorial of martyrs in Binh Chanh District and Can Thanh Town in Can Gio District.

Four other venues are the Saigon River Tunnel and Ben Noc Memorial Temple in Thu Duc City, Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, and Ben Duoc Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District.

Vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc said preparations for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday have been done quickly.

The city has required the strict employment of anti-COVID-19 measures. Residents and agencies should not be heedless, Duc added.

The city will hold visits to families contributing to the country’s revolutions, ex-soldiers, families of martyrs, and underprivileged people.

It will also supervise and promptly support enterprises facing difficulties to help their workers enjoy the Tet holiday, especially those who cannot return to their hometowns.

The city will organize Tet programs for 10,000 laborers, present 35,000 coach, train and air tickets to disadvantaged laborers so that they can return to their homelands to celebrate Tet, offer entrance tickets to Dam Sen Cultural Park for 5,000 households with 20,000 members, and launch an online market to provide essential commodities to 5,000 laborers.

These programs require a cost of some VND140 billion (US$6 million).

Taking caution while shopping online

Le Minh Hai, deputy head of the Food Safety Management Authority of Ho Chi Minh City, said that online shopping has become more popular.

During inspections into online shops, the authority has detected many violations.

In particular, online traders are not issued with food safety certificates.

In addition, materials of products have unclear origins and the information about products is unspecified.

Therefore, the authority advised consumers to pay more attention to the origin, information, and best-before date of products.

If local consumers have any questions, they can contact the authority via phone number 39301714.
